Writing Letters

Pen Pal Friendship

Blessing Hands wants to invite you to write to our students. They are interested in practicing their English with foreigners. You can share about music, what American schools are like, what your families do for fun, and what you or your parents do for work. Be sure and ask questions about their school, family, or country.  We suggest that you send a picture of yourself or your family. since art is a universal language, drawing a picture would be great. You can receive a pen pal by contacting us through our website, or you can write to your sponsored student.

If your student has an e-mail address, you can write immediately. The Chinese students must use dial-up computer labs at school that are shared by a lot of people or a teacher’s computers. Your e-mails could be public. They can’t write often so be patient.

If you are writing by regular mail then send your letter to the Blessing Hands administrator of in the area where your pen pal lives. This will ensure that the letter arrives as intended and provides postage for your pen pal to write you back. Not many students could afford the postage otherwise. Letters are sent in packets twice a semester, so a return letter by regular postage may take some time. They or their teacher can understand English, and they will probably write you back in English. Some of the Blessing Hands students may write to more than one pen pal. We hope you have fun and make a great new friend. If you have any questions you can write blessinghands@(at)gmail.com. We also have a blog at http://blessinghands.blogspot.com and a web page at http://www.blessing-hands.org.
